Textile Recycling Modules

Dig Into the Details…

Uncover what happens to garments in today’s system after the first consumer no longer wants them, and embed a critical understanding of the present and future state of reuse, upcycling, downcycling, and recycling of unwanted materials. A deep dive can be done on any topic, and many can be trimmed to a high-level overview and added as context to other modules. Contact us to schedule a workshop!

Multiple Product Cycles

During this session, participants discover what textile recycling is and where products go when they are donated or recycled. We explore the difference between reuse, upcycling, downcycling, and recycling, and investigate existing opportunities to close the loop. This is critical, foundational knowledge that participants can use to be more sustainable at work and at home.

Recycling Technologies and Waste as Input

A variety of recycling methods dot today’s landscape, and together we explore how current and future technologies function and enable product to achieve multiple cycles of use, reuse, and recycling. Most importantly, we will discuss the systemic changes required to return previously sold product to the supply chain.

Hands-On Reuse and Upcycling

This hands-on session explains the benefits and challenges of reuse and upcycling. Participants apply core concepts by designing a product made from used materials, evaluating how the key considerations affect the process, and sharing the results with the team.
